How can I protect myself against online credit card fraud?

You are not at risk when processing your credit card transaction online. Your information is transmitted to us via 128 bit encryption and stored on our database encrypted. The reality is that it's actually much safer to enter your credit card number on a secure online order form than it is to give your credit card to a waiter at a restaurant.
Our staff are constantly monitored and we frequently run random polygraph tests just to make sure. We have never, in our 10 year history, had a problem with a clients credit card.

  • Our advice when using a credit card online is to make sure the business you are dealing with is credible and have been in business for a reasonable amount of time before you go ahead and give them your credit card details.
  • NEVER give anyone the password that you use to log on to your online account or Internet Service Provider.
  • Never provide your credit card information on a website that is not a secure site
Who would be responsible for online credit card fraud? Should you be the victim on credit card fraud (whether due to your local restaurant or giving your details online), you will see fraudulent transactions on your credit card statement. Simply report these to your bank and the bank will demand proof of the transaction from the vendor who took those credit card transactions. Should there be no proof of you making the transaction, the transaction will be reversed and you will not be held liable. It’s always wise to review your Cardholder Agreement for additional details.
What are my payment options?

Internet Transfer
This is by far the easiest method of payment on Digital Planet. You can transfer the amount for your transaction into our account directly. Digital Planet processed the order as soon as the payment is cleared. We bank with standard bank so if you bank with another bank such as Nedbank, ABSA, the inter-bank transfer can take 2-3 days. If you bank with Standard bank, the transfer will take about a day.

Please Note that it is only possible to refund into a South African Bank Account when dealing with Internet Transfers.

Credit Cards
Digital Planet accepts Visa and MasterCard. In order to reduce the risk, we do a credit check on every Credit Card customer - this allows us to make the transaction with no chance of fraud. This also protects you, the credit card holder, as we ensure that you do not have a criminal using your credit card on our site. An authorisation will be done on your credit card as soon as the order is placed which reserves the funds on your statement. Should you cancel the order before we process the transaction, we send an instruction to your bank to cancel the transaction. They will remove the reservation based on their service levels.
Please check with your bank for their turn around times.

Cheque Deposit
Digital Planet accepts cheque deposits into our bank account. Please note that cheques take 7 working days minimum to clear and we can only process your goods once the payment has cleared. For speedy service, we recommend using an internet transfer instead.

Account Holders
Digital Planet offers preferred 30-day accounts to corporate, government and educational institutions. If you wish to open an account with Digital Planet or for further information please contact accounts@digitalplanet.co.za

Digital Planet does not accept cash. Please see our payment methods and select the appropriate option.

eBucks
Digital Planet offers Ebucks customers an easy way to shop online. When you are prompted for your payment, simply choose the Ebucks icon and follow the instructions. Ebucks usually clear within 1 day. The merchant will not know any of your personal financial details and payment will be taken once the order is ready for shipping.

FNB cell phone banking
Digital Planet offers FNB cell pay point customers an easy way to shop online. When you are prompted for your payment, simply choose the FNB cell paypoint icon and follow the instructions. FNB Cell paypoint usually clear within 1 day. The merchant will not know any of your personal financial details and payment will be taken once the order is ready for shipping.

Refunds

Should a transaction which you have already paid for be cancelled, Digital Planet will refund you the agreed amount in the same way that you originally paid. For eg. If you paid by Credit card, we will issue you a refund through the same credit card.

Please Note it is only possible to refund into a South African Bank Account when dealing with Internet Transfers.

Once your refund has been approved it will take 5-14 days to reflect in your bank account.

Can I combine eBucks payment with a cash payment should there be a difference? No unfortunately this will not be possible as Ebucks and cash payments are processed through different systems and this will lead to unnecessary complications for our customers.
I’ve got two vouchers; can I use them both on one order? No you cannot. Please email voucherqueries@digitalplanet.co.za and they will arrange a combination voucher for you. Some vouchers can not be used in conjunction with others for example two percentage discount vouchers or promotional vouchers.
How do I redeem a voucher? Coupons (AKA Vouchers) and Gift Cards are redeemed during the checkout process. Once you checkout you are taken to the shopping cart where you can then enter your voucher no. in the coupon or gift card tab, then simply update your cart moving onto the next screen. Please note when you are purchasing an item and your total cost of the order is less than the voucher you would need to choose the bank transfer option under payment info. Only one Coupon or Gift Card can be used per transaction.
What are the expiry dates on the different vouchers and gift cards? Expiry dates on vouchers are dependant on the the campaign which the voucher correlates to. The validity of a voucher usually spans two months.
My voucher isn’t working - what could the reason be? There could be a number of reasons why the voucher does not work. Vouchers can be set to only work on some products, for particular people and for a specified amount of time. Should any of these criteria not be valid, the voucher will not work. Do I have to register to place an order?

Yes. Digital Planet has ensured that registering is as easy as possible. It’s a simple one step process that’s actually part of the checkout. We need to collect some important information in order for us to be able to contact you as well as process your order successfully. It also has some added benefits like checking your order status; we’ll also be able to review your order history which will help in managing your own profile.

How do I buy something that I see listed on Digital Planet?

To start your shopping you can start your search in three different ways:

  1. If you wish to browse our product range, select one of the options from the list of categories on the tabs situated at the top of the page.
  2. Use the search box in order to find exactly what you are looking for (example: Acer 22 inch LCD Screen)
  3. Click into our brand stores situated on the bottom under the blog section.

Once you have decided on the product that you would like to purchase all you have to do is just click the add button located by your product choice. Once you have clicked the add button a sign will appear to confirm that the selected product has been added to your cart.

You can view all your items by clicking on Shopping cart which is situated on the top right hand corner. Once you are in your shopping cart you can proceed to the checkout located on the right hand side of the page, follow the 5 simple steps to successfully place order.

I’m interested in other brands besides the buttons you have on the left of the screen. Do you stock other brands? Yes, We have various brands on our site. Click on the more brands button situated under our brand store icons on the left hand side of the website.
I’m looking for a specific product but can’t find it on your site.

If you can’t find a product, Go to the search bar located on the top left hand side and type in what you’re looking for. This will return all the matches on our site for what you’re looking for.

How long does it take to place an order on the website?

The ordering process is simple - it takes approximately 2-10 minutes for a buyer to complete an order and instant invoicing is available. If you are a returning customer the process is a lot quicker.

To complete your order, you will be required to enter your billing and shipping information. Select your payment method above your order summary and fill in your payment details.

** Please note that we do not deliver to P.O Boxes**

All the details of your order can be reviewed in the order confirmation page which you will automatically be taken to in your next step once the terms and conditions have been read and accepted.

Your purchase is complete once you see our Thank-you Page, where you will find your Order Number. Within a few minutes you will also receive an e-mail confirming your order.

Do you have a catalogue or do I have to order online? Digital planet is purely an online store that carries various popular brands. We are an online retailer and therefore we don’t distribute a catalogue.
Why doesn’t it show that an item is out of stock on your website? We have most of our suppliers onboard to send us regular stock updates. Unfortunately not all suppliers can supply us with this information. We hold stock of top sellers in order to alleviate any out of stock issues. If something is out of stock with us and with our suppliers, we will contact you with an ETA date and an alternative product.
What does ETA mean? Estimated Time of Arrival
What does POP mean? Proof of Payment
What is the warranty of a product if it is not specified on the website? Most products come with a one year manufacturer warranty unless otherwise specified. The warranty actually lies with the wholesaler in this country.
Can I obtain an invoice or receipt for my purchase? Your order will be accompanied with a tax invoice unless it is a prize from one of our competitions.
What sort of order confirmation will I receive? An email notification confirming your order will be sent to you.
How will my order be packaged? Your order will come in the suppliers original packaging unless repackaged by Digital Planet in its distinctive and unique bubble wrap.

Deliveries

Can I come and collect from your offices? Digital Planet is a virtual store so we only have deliveries to your premises.
How much does shipping cost? Shipping costs will depend on your shipping destination. JHB City centre = R50, DBN/CPT city centres = R60. Please ensure that the correct postal code is used for shipping purposes.
Do you ship to Postal Boxes? No. We only delivery to street addresses
How long will it take to process my order? 2 – 7 working days, depending on stock availability.
How do I track the shipping status of an order?
When will my order arrive?
Once you’ve completed an order you can track the progress of your order via the order history / My account at http://ww.digitalplanet.co.za/account.aspx
Scroll down to find your order number and select “Track Your order”. This will present you with a status/progress update of each line item. You will also receive regular email updates from us as we process your order.
Can I change or cancel my order? If you have received the order, you have 7 days to return the item you wish to have refunded, on condition that it is in its original packaging. If opened a minimum 25% handling charge will be deducted. If you have not received the order please mail orders@digitalplanet.co.za and one of our customer services team members will assist you.
Your email says you have delivered the item but it never arrives, what should I do? You can email orders@digitalplanet.co.za with your order number and order query.
Do you deliver to Nigeria, Botswana, Lesotho etc? No, at this current point in time we only deliver within South Africa.
I haven’t received my order – what should I do? If you have not received your order within 7 working days, simply email our contact centre, orders@digitalplanet.co.za with your relevant order no. and one of our skilled agents will respond within 24 hours with an update regarding the status of your order.
The product is faulty, what do I do?

Email our contact centre at orders@digitalplanet.co.za with the following:

  1. Your relevant order no. and product pertaining to that order that is faulty.
  2. A collection and delivery address.
  3. Preferably 2 contact telephone no’s and if possible a contact telephone no. of a relative that can be contacted if you are not available.
  4. A brief fault report of the product.

Our repairs department will then send the item to the relevant supplier to be repaired and keep you updated every 2nd day until your repaired item is dispatched to you. Please note that all repairs take approximately 7-10 working days.

N.B. We do not accept item/s sent in for repairs that are physically damaged as per the terms and conditions of our suppliers.

My delivery arrived damaged, what do I do?

Simply email our contact centre at orders@digitalplanet.co.za with:

  1. Your relevant order no. and the product pertaining to that order that has been damaged.
  2. A collection and delivery address.
  3. Preferably 2 contact telephone no’s and if possible a contact telephone no. of a relative that can be contacted if you are not available.

The customer services department will then evaluate the damage of the item and should it need to be replaced, a new order will be placed for the replacement item which would take approximately 5-7 working days. Please note that all new orders placed for any item/s are dependent on stock availability.

Something is missing from my delivery – what do I do?

Email our contact centre at orders@digitalplanet.co.za with:

  1. Your relevant order no. and the item/s that have not been received or invoiced.

Our contact centre will then advise you of the status of the missing item/s and a new order for the missing item/s will be placed from our supplier/s which would take approximately 5-7 working days. Please note that all new orders placed for any item/s are dependent on stock availability.

The item in the box is not what I ordered, what do I do?

Email our contact centre at orders@digitalplanet.co.za with:

  1. Your relevant order no. and the item stock code (SKU) that you originally ordered and the stock code (SKU) on the item that you received.
  2. A collection and delivery address, preferably 2 contact telephone no.s and if possible a contact telephone no. of a relative that can be contacted if you are not available.

Our returns department will then order the correct item and dispatch the new order within 5-7 working days. Please note that all new orders placed for any item/s are dependent on stock availability.
