4GB iPod + iTrip Twitter Valentines Competition Winner

Last week we ran a Valentines Day competition specifically for twitter where people were asked to give us their best pickup line. The winning line would get a 4GB iPod + iTrip and i must admit, we (at the office) had some cheese but funny entries:

@BrendonAmbrose: "Sigh...Inheritating 80 million bucks doesn't mean much when you have a weak heart"

@fadeelahk: "Do you believe in the Hereafter? Well, then i guess you know what i'm here after"

However the winning line came from @moonhugger: "You must work at Bostik coz you're really PRITTy"

so congrats to Mooniq! Your 4GB iPod + iTrip has been shipped to you. If you're keen to be apart of these competitions then follow us on twitter and you could be the next winner!

Garmin Lets You Record Your Own Voice

Just had a look on twitter and saw a tweet from @ncallegari (thanks buddy!) that says Garmin lets you record your own voice for directions. How awesome is that. I'm sure there's going to be some odd recorded voices. So give the Garmin app a try and let us know how it goes?

Schweet!

Panda Launches Free USB Vaccine To Block Malware Spreading Through Flash Drives

Get an Aspire One (Blue) + Panda for Netbooks 2010(1 licence) with additional 2GB USB Flash Drive for R2999.

Panda Security, the global IT security vendor, has launched Panda USB Vaccine, a free security solution designed to block malware which spreads through removable drives such as flash drives, CD/DVDs and MP3 players. This free tool can be downloaded from http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/downloads/usbvaccine/

“There is an increasing amount of malware which, like the notorious Conficker worm, spreads via removable devices and drives such as memory sticks, MP3 players and digital cameras,” says Jeremy Matthews, head of Panda’s sub-Saharan operations. He says that cybercrooks are taking advantage of the way these devices work: “Windows uses the Autorun.inf file on these drives or devices to know which action to take when they are connected to the computer. This file, which is on the root directory of the device, offers the option to define a programme to automatically run part of the content stored on the device when it connects to the computer.” This feature, he explains, is being used by cyber-crooks to spread viruses, through the modification of Autorun.inf with commands that result in the malware stored on the USB drive running automatically when the device connects to a computer. This will immediately infect the computer in question.

To prevent the infection of computers through this technique, Panda’s free Panda USB Vaccine offers a double layer of preventive protection, allowing users to disable the AutoRun feature on computers as well as on USB drives and other devices. “This is a very useful tool as there is no easy way of disabling the AutoRun feature in Windows. It makes it much simpler for users, offering a high level of security against infections through removable drives and devices,” concludes Matthews.

To download the free tool, go to http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/downloads/usbvaccine/

Epson VD EHDM2 Projector Home Entertainment

Years ago, projectors were just seen as a fixed fixture in an office boardroom. Something that you could hook your notebook/desktop up to and run your presentations. -yawn-

Epson has seen the potential that projectors have and have launched the Epson VD EHDM2 Home Entertainment Projector. Yes it is lightweight. Yes it a 16:9 format projector.

But it also has an Integrated DVD/DivX player with a built-in speaker. Not so much the speaker that is important because with the connections you connect to your PC or TV and use your surround sound. However the fact it has a built in DVD/DivX player means you don't need a separate component to watch DVDs, a separate component for DivX movies, a separate component for MP3's - you get what I'm saying? It's so tiny and lightweight that you can carry it wherever you go or just have it at home but it works smart not hard combining 2/3 components into one. Watch movies, listen to music, view slide shows. Connect the Epson Projector to your console or PC and you have an unrivaled gaming powerhouse.

Now don't take my word for it, check out the specs of the Epson VD EHDM2 Projector Home Entertainment. For R6899 - this projector truly is a cut above the rest.

Microsoft Announcement

“Everybody use’s Microsoft Office right, well a PC with no Office is like a car with no wheels and there are great ways to buy Office with your PC during the purchase or after the initial purchase.

There is a version that we call FPP (fully packaged product) which is available via retail shops but there is a cheaper way! If you have purchased a PC in the last 60 days which has what we call an “Office Ready” image on you can convert this trial version that will last 60 days to a full license and it’s cheaper than you might think.

The product that I want to tell you about is called a Microsoft Office MLK (Medialess License Kit) so as the name says its medialess so no disks just a product key that you enter into your PC. If you want the disks no problem just log onto www.microsoft.com/office/backup where you can order the disks.

There are many PC’s that have the “Office Ready” image on so if you want to find out if yours does have a look here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/HA103533041033.aspx?pid=CH010963501033

This is the cheapest way to purchase Microsoft Office so purchase now before your 60 days expire!”
